Capstone Documentary
If I were to do a documentary for my capstone project, it's purpose would be to raise awareness of the unprepared teachers that are being hired to teach early elementary aged children. The point of view would be from the perspective of the teachers, since they were the ones that brought this issue to the attention of childcare professionals. It would be a sequence of clips from teachers and their day to day struggles that they face with difficult children. My point of view that is if awareness is raised, perhaps extra measures would be taken by school boards to help give their educators the edge they need to handle the students that they are given.

Richland Video Review
The Richland Gaming Department made a video to promote their design classes. The video showed a basic overview of some of the classes that they offer. The video also included interviews of students and professors in the Gaming Department on campus. They used the same camera angle and shot for every scene and it got repetitive and boring after a while. Some movement in the camera and a variety of angles would have been more interesting to watch. The video would have been more enticing if they had changed the background music to be more modern (and less annoying).

Horses
Horses have been a passion of mine ever since I can remember. I started taking horseback riding lessons when I was four years old. I took lessons until I was old enough and saved up enough money to buy my first horse. I started training horses for other people when I was twelve and by the time I was fourteen, I started training and breaking horses professionally.
When I turned sixteen I had my own business giving riding lessons, training horses, and starting colts. I have competed in various ranch rodeo events and worked as a hand on a local 1800 acre cattle ranch. I was selected for a professional adult rodeo drill team where we competed at competitions all over the country. We went on to win the United States Equestrian Drill national competition in 2011. I continue to ride my own three horses frequently as a way to relax and get away from stress and to become a better rider.
Boys and Girls Club
I began volunteering for the Boys and Girls Club when I enrolled at RCHS. I chose the Boys and Girls Club because I wanted more experience working with children. What started out as a requirement for service learning ended up being a decision that I am glad I made. I have learned lots of patience from tutoring and mentoring the children each day after school. I have built relationships with many of the children and I am looking forward to another year at the Boys and Girls Club.

Documentary Review
Choose a film to watch this weekend:
1.) Wild Horse, Wild Ride part 1 (1&2)
2.) King of Kong part 1 (1-7)
Blog post is due Tuesday:
NO SYNOPSYS
- What is the story arc in one sentence?
100 people are each given a wild mustangs to have completely trained for a big show (100 day time limit) and after competing, they sell the mustangs at an auction.
- What camera angles are used? Why?
There are a lot of overhead views of the roundpens and breaking pens in order for the audience to be able to see everything that's going on without having to follow the horses as they run around. They also had the camera pointed straight at the horses and trainers so all of the action in the scene would be completely visible.
- What kind of cutaways and POV shots?
They used a lot of cut aways to cover some of the things that the filmmakers do not want the audience to see that would make the mood of the documentary more negative. The camera would also follow the horses and riders around to show either how fast they were going to make the actions in the scene appear more intense. They had the upper body shots when they were interviewing the trainers, where the camera remained completely still.
- How does the filmmaker get us involved?
They keep the story line moving by continually switching between different pairs of trainers and horses.

Strengths
My strong suit is definitely working to get the point across and communicating with others. I love meeting new people and I am able to work on solving issues with others. I am able to work either in a group or by myself and get the job done just as well either way. I am also good at thinking problems out and being intuitive to other people's feelings. As a result, I can adapt well to different situations.

1. I am in RCHS because I like the idea of getting a jump start on college. My brother and sister didn't enjoy their first two years of college because they were basically a repeat of their last two years of high school. My parents have always tried to foster a love for learning and the three of us decided that RCHS would help keep learning interesting without having to repeat anything for credits.
2. My time is mostly spent reading, working with livestock, and spending time with my youth group. I have always loved reading and I continue to read for pleasure along the side of my academic reading. My major will be either English or Education, so using words to describe feelings, thoughts, situations, etc. have always fascinated me. Another passion of mine includes large animal husbandry. I have three horses and nine cows that I spend time with on a daily basis taking care of. I have been riding horses for almost twelve years now and it is still as much of a passion of mine as it was when I first started. Last, and in my opinion the most important is my youth group and continuing to grow in my faith.
3. My intended area of study is either English or Education. I haven't quite decided which I would like to major in yet.
4. I don't know that there was a pivotal moment that set me on the path of majoring in Education or English. I know that I love writing and editing papers. I will probably go into Education because I have been the head of many clubs where I have tutored and mentored children. My job right now is also giving lessons to children and adults on horsemanship.
5. Youth group, horseback riding, mentor, YAG (debate)
6. I volunteer at the Boys and Girls club and Cornerstone Ministries.
7. I was home schooled for 6 years and I have been a part of rodeo for 10 years.
